The ASIC Application Engineer plays a crucial role in the qualification and implementation of Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). They work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and deployment of ASIC solutions into LEM variance current transducer products. Responsibilities: • Evaluate ASIC suppliers based on their manufacturing processes, capabilities, and quality control measures. The engineer should have the ability to assess and select suppliers who demonstrate expertise in ASIC fabrication and assembly, ensuring high-quality and reliable ASIC components. • Knowledge of industry standards and requirements for ASIC testing and qualification. The engineer should be familiar with various testing methodologies, such as environmental testing, reliability testing, and functional testing, and have the ability to work with suppliers to ensure compliance with these standards. • Experience in conducting audits and assessments of ASIC suppliers' facilities, processes, and quality management systems. The engineer should be able to evaluate supplier capabilities, assess their adherence to quality standards, and identify any potential risks or areas for improvement. • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and quality control techniques for ASIC manufacturing. The engineer should have the ability to analyze manufacturing data, perform yield analysis, and identify areas for process optimization and improvement. • Collaboration with suppliers to establish and maintain effective communication channels for ongoing quality monitoring and issue resolution. The engineer should work closely with suppliers to address any quality-related concerns, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement in supplier performance. • Collaborate with design and verification teams to thoroughly understand ASIC requirements and specifications. This involves working closely with hardware engineers, software engineers, and system architects to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project goals and constraints. • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of ASIC applications to ensure functionality and performance. This includes designing and executing test plans, analyzing test results, and identifying and resolving any issues or bugs that arise. • Provide technical support to customers, addressing their inquiries and resolving any issues related to ASIC applications. The engineer will serve as a point of contact for customers, offering assistance and guidance to ensure they have a positive experience with the ASIC solutions. • Collaborate with product management and marketing teams to gather customer feedback and identify areas for improvement. The engineer will work closely with these teams to understand customer needs and preferences, and provide input on product enhancements and new features. • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in ASIC technology to drive innovation and enhance product capabilities. The engineer will actively seek out new technologies and methodologies, and propose innovative solutions to improve the performance, efficiency, and functionality of ASIC applications. Requirements: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A strong academic background in digital design, computer architecture, and embedded systems is preferred. • Strong knowledge of ASIC design flow, including RTL design, synthesis, and verification. The engineer should be familiar with industry-standard ASIC design tools and methodologies. • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Verilog, and VHDL. The engineer should have hands-on experience in writing and optimizing code for ASIC applications. • Experience with ASIC simulation and debugging tools. The engineer should be proficient in using simulation tools to verify the functionality and performance of ASIC designs, and have the ability to debug and resolve any issues that arise during the verification process. • Familiarity with FPGA prototyping and emulation. The engineer should have experience in using FPGA platforms for rapid prototyping and emulation of ASIC designs, and be able to effectively utilize these tools in the development and testing process. • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. The engineer should have the ability to identify and analyze complex problems, and propose effective solutions that meet the project requirements and constraints. • Strong communication and collaboration abilities. The engineer should be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, as well as with customers and stakeholders. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment are essential.
