BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Guangdong Verbund site project would be BASF's largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. The site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide, and will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards. The new smart Verbund site will include a steam cracker with a capacity of 1 million metric tons of ethylene per year and downstream plants for consumer-oriented products. By utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards, the site will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production. Responsibilities •As the Lead Business Solution Consultant for the Operational EHS Product Family within the Global Digital Services organization, you will be primarily responsible for supporting the Smart EHS workstream of the BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project. •With a goal to continuously improve on safety by leveraging digitalization, you will support the realization of the Smart EHS scope, especially the solutions under the ownership of the Operational EHS project family, and ensure all solutions deployed are highly reliable and adhere to all applicable internal requirements and external/government requirements. •With a focus on service and sustainability, you will leverage your expertise and familiarity in chemical manufacturing and digital technologies to ensure developed and deployed solutions are both quality and cost competitive. •You will draft detailed solution design documents for each of the Smart EHS solution offerings, incorporating requirements and managing internal and external resources to ensure the development meets the needs of the project team and other internal stakeholders. •You will work in partnership with the Global Digital Services, EHS expert communities and BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project teams to execute pre-studies related to modernization of EHS solutions and new technology driven use cases. •You will drive the deployment of the Smart EHS scope and future digital operational EHS solutions with a focus training, change management, and lifecycle management. Qualifications •Background in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or information technology •profound knowledge of programming in Python, R or a comparable programming language, knowledge in the development of complex software solutions, preferably of cloud-based applications, ideally working experience in agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum) and DevOps concepts •Creative and motivated working style with a strong focus on innovation as well as excellent communication skills which define you as an effective team player •Familiarity with BASF production processes and workflows, especially in the Greater China region. •Experience in scoping and change management of digital products. •Experience in cloud environments. •Able to quickly learn new software and understand new technologies. •Familiarity with EHS industry software solutions. •Experience training and teaching, especially on software solutions. •Fluency in English and Mandarin. •Skilled user of Microsoft Office 365 Tools.
