1．2018 Management Trainee – Global Business Services (GBS)

Global Business Services & Chief Operating Office is a key partner for business lines development and performances. This global team gathers the following support functions: Market, Operations (OPER), Information Technology (ITEC), Finance (DFIN), Strategy and Organization (S&O), Corporate Services (CS) and Security & Anti-Fraud Expertise (SAFE).

Our role is to provide the most competitive operating model on the market to GBIS business lines while delivering a high quality level of service and innovative solutions in a risk-controlled environment.

In China, GBS regroups 170 professionals spread across 7 locations, with a centralization of transversal functions in Beijing and two platforms dedicated to market activities (Shanghai) and Trade (Guangzhou).

As fresh graduate, your rotation will enable you to understand more our 3 main areas (IT, Finance, Operations) as well as gain exposure on projects and operational risks.

After this rotation period, as a new joiner, you will start your journey with us by having assignment within production or “change the bank” teams to further understand the complexity of our product / processing chains and learn how to work in team with different set of expertise.

As your career develop, you will be exposed to management and decision making , with responsibility covering small to larger teams or leading projects, finding a right balance between the business development and operational risk.

Global Markets in China:

SG China is the CNY Foreign Exchange (FX) Market Maker CNY/EUR Direct Market Maker for China Interbank Market. We are providing competitive service to our clients and also contribute liquidity to the China Interbank Market. SG China is the active participant in the China Interbank Bond Market, actively participating in the China interbank IRS market. We offer various risk management solutions for FI and corporate clients.

MT could have several directions to grow which includes trading, sales, structuring and business management, they could grow from junior trader/sales/analyst into senior trader/sales/analyst and then gradually into managerial role.

We are looking for:

3. 2018 Management Trainee – Coverage and Client Credit Group (CORI and CCG)

CORI, the Coverage and Investment Banking division of SG CIB, offers a global advisory approach focused on strategic dialogue with clients. Building on long-term relationships based on trust, CORI offers clients the whole range of services offered by SG CIB and the Group, with a particular focus on investment banking and commercial banking activities.

CORI provides tailor-made solutions to corporates, financial institutions, the public sector and family offices. Building on a comprehensive coverage set-up and investment banking platform, the teams collaborate in a complementary manner to accompany their clients with the utmost expertise.

For a fresh graduate, coverage function would provide a wide exposure and long term career engagement with exciting challenges and potentials.

For a young talent, future career path in CORI could be 

Support banker/RM for account maintenance: to liaise with different functions and product line which would help the graduate to build up an overall view of the bank and coverage function;

Junior RM with a limited portfolio to build up credentials and experience;

Senior RM with bigger portfolio and strategic names of the bank;

Banker as single contributor / lead a team.

4. 2018 Management Trainee – Global Transaction & Payment Services (GTPS)

Global Transaction & Payment Services (GTPS) is designed for individuals as well as domestic and international financial companies and institutions seeking support with transactions (bank, commercial and corporate transactions) and/or payments. With a presence in over 50 countries, Société Générale GTPS offers a comprehensive and integrated range of services based on the expertise of Transaction Banking and Payment Services. 

Payment & Cash Management 

Payment & Cash Management (PCM) is an integral and important part of GTPS businesses which helps companies improve their treasury management. From both organizational and global perspective, it allows group companies to have better visibility, control and utilization of their cash flows, manages and improves company liquidity, optimizes interest and exchange rates and provides managers with operational and strategic management information. Following the deepening of globalization in modern enterprises, and the development of technology for payments and collections, PCM is becoming one of the core competitive elements for both banks and enterprises operating around the world.

Management trainees will have the opportunities to work in different functions such as Product Development, Middle Offices, Front Line Sales; and different locations across China where PCM has presences. They will be able to build the knowledge base of modern PCM methodology from back to front, and practice the necessary skill sets gained through the processes. At the same time, this will help the candidate to understand in depth throughout the process the positioning of individual interest versus actual capabilities, so as to better design future personal career development. 

Trade Finance 

Trade Finance (TRA) is well positioned to provide with a comprehensive range of trade products, mainly including: import/export services, domestic trade services and bond/bank guarantees. Depending on its distinctly strong network and trade business throughout France, Russia, Eastern Europe, Western/Northern Africa, GTPS/TRA becomes the unique gateway for Chinese businesses to enter these markets. 

One dedicated team of professional trade specialists has been equipped for GTPS/TRA. These market experts have many valuable years of experience in trade finance and are committed to provide excellent services to the clients. By combining the international experience with in-depth knowledge of the Chinese market, GTPS/TRA is especially suited to satisfy all the trade financing needs. GTPS/TRA has quality bill handling capabilities to provide quick document handling, prompt document tracking and excellent trade services.

Following Chinese government’s initiative to internationalize RMB and promote “One Belt One Road”, GTPS/TRA is well-equipped to support clients’ various needs with our RMB capabilities, as well as providing professional and customized solutions and services to corporations with different needs.

For a Management Trainee, there are two main common career paths in GTPS/TRA:

·Product manager jobs involve working for GTPS/TRA mainly focusing on business intelligence, product development, and communication on products. The functions you may implement while in such a position include the following: 

oResearch and analyze market conditions to identify gap;

oIdentify opportunities for product innovation and product enhancements;

oDefine and execute product strategies, including pricing strategies and product policies;

oTo ensure that product solutions are aligned with regulatory requirements with inputs by concerned stakeholders.

·Sales jobs involve working for GTPS/TRA mainly focusing developing new trade clients, 

oDevelop trade business to customers within assigned portfolio;

oVisit customers regularly to lobby for more trade business;

oWork closely with GTPS/TRA product team to achieve the target set of each product;

oManage proactively sales activities for reporting;

oProactively cross-sell trade products and services according to branch product marketing plans and customer needs; 

Typically, both career paths shall need professional knowledge and valuable experience to fulfill the job requirements and business targets.
