Behind every great company is an even better story. Ours began in 1956, when Aron Goldfarb came to the United States with a European master craftsman's skill and an unwavering desire to succeed. Aron founded G&N Sportswear, and in 1972 his son, Morris Goldfarb - the current Chief Executive Officer - joined the Company. Now called the G-III Apparel Group, the Company has quickly become the world's premiere designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear dresses, women's suits and sportswear. We understand that we can only succeed so long as we remember the core values that got us here.
We are unabashedly proud of our achievements, illustrated by the following timeline:
1956 G&N Sportswear founded by Aron Goldfarb
1974 G&N revamped as G-III Leather Fashions selling moderately priced women's leather outerwear
1988 G-III Leather Fashions enters the Men's leather apparel market which today includes the G-III and Colebrook labels
1989 G-III Leather Fashions completes a successful initial public offering and is renamed the G-III Apparel Group.
1990 Women's textile outerwear and sportswear is introduced under the Colebrook and Co. label
1992 Men's textile outerwear introduced under the Colebrook and Co. label
1993 The Company enters the sports licensing arena, producing and distributing National Football League team logo outerwear
2001 The Company enters into a license agreement to market women's wool outerwear under the Jones New York and JNY Jones New York labels. Men's continues to expand as the Company launches the licensed Sean John men's outerwear and Timberland leather outerwear lines
2002 The Company expands its license with the NFL to manufacture a comprehensive line of adult outerwear
2004 Company adds Kenneth Cole New York and Kenneth Cole Reaction men's outerwear, Cece Cord handbags and apparel, and World Poker Tour.
2005 The Company acquires the Marvin Richards and Winlit businesses, which include licenses for Calvin Klein, Guess?, Ellen Tracy, and Tommy Hilfiger outerwear.
2006 Company launches Calvin Klein Women's suits
2006 Company launches Calvin Klein dresses.
2006 Sean John license agreement expanded to include womens outerwear and junior contemporary sportswear.
2007 Acquires assets of Jessica Howard, Eliza J and Industrial Cotton.
2007 Ellen Tracy license agreement expanded to include ladies suits and dresses.
2008 Acquires Andrew Marc.
2008 Acquires 115 Wilson's Leather Outlet Stores.
2008 Launches Jessica Simpson dress line.
2008 Launches Calvin Klein Performance Wear and Calvin Klein Better Sportswear.
