Responsibilities • Lead/Manage multiple new product projects utilizing a working knowledge of materials, manufacturing techniques and engineering practices. • Provide support for plant operations by planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of new product launches to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are met on time and within budget. • Serve as a plant liaison to product development teams. • Coordinate development and approval of quotes and provide to sourcing in timely manner. • Initiate component print changes. • Apply manufacturing and statistical methods to estimate manufacturing requirements, potential, and cost of product to be developed. • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards. • Analyze manufacturing capabilities, production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. • Lead DFA & DFM activities with plant personnel, including Quality and Process Engineering. • Provide project management and manufacturing input throughout all phases of the product development process. Manage PPAPs.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree is required. A degree in Engineering is preferred. • Prior experience is not required. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an engineering environment with manufacturing exposure is preferred. • Experience in high volume assembly or decorative finishes is preferred. • Cross-functional product development/program/project management experience a plus. • Product development design experience, preferably for consumer durable products involving both plastic and metal (zinc or brass) materials is preferred. • Experience in FMEA, DOE, QFD, APQP, and DFMA is preferred. • Experience in 3-D CAD (preferably Creo) is preferred. • Experience with lean manufacturing and change management is a plus. • Proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Office. SAP experience a plus. • Ability to interpret BOMs and engineering prints and create routings. • Must be able to function in a team-oriented environment. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff, customers, suppliers, and operations • Demonstrated success handling multiple priorities in changing environments. • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and successfully resolve problems. • Ability and willingness for occasional travel to support project objectives.
